My boss's brother died a few weeks ago, she's been having a lot of emotional/financial trouble with it, and is pretty much going through it alone. She put together a memorial which is today, and I told my co workers we should get some money for some flowers and go. One of my co workers knew him, she said it was ok for her to go, but not me, because I didn't know him. She said it would be disrespectful for me to go because I never met him. I was always raised to support my friends when they lost a loved one, and go to the funeral of their loved one regardless of whether I met the deceased person or not, to show that I care. Am I wrong?
